Guess where H, K and I were Friday night? At an overnight Awana youth group all-nighter play session. It was a last minute decision to go. We arrived shortly before the 8:00 PM start. My friend R brought her 3 oldest girls, a niece and two other young ladies we know from the 80th birthday party. About 25 kids participated in this fun filled night. And nice kids they were! The kids had a blast PLAYING games all night long. Let me repeat that. ALL NIGHT LONG. Games like "towel hockey", "shoebox soccer", "splosh ball hockey", "Mystery scavenger hunt" and more games. Believe me, Saturday morning all the kids looked so tired. Most did not sleep at all even though there was the boys' sleeping room in the basement and the girls' sleeping room upstairs. One lad was so tired Saturday morning that he managed to remain sleeping on his pillow that was propped up against the wall while someone was vacuuming the room. Sound asleep. R and I talked until 5:00 AM while we kept the snack station replenished. We both took a 2 hour nap in the early morning hours although I never did fall to asleep. K came in to lay down at about 6:00 AM then was up again at 7:00 AM . Everyone was treated to a continental breakfast of muffins, fruit, "pigs in the blanket", OJ and milk. We were back home by 10:00 AM. The couple that coordinates the Awana's group at the church did an outstanding job. They run a tight and well organized ship. The kids were exhausted but glad they went.
When we got home K and I went right to bed. She woke up at 2:00 Saturday afternoon. I woke up at 3:00 PM. H managed to stay awake until early Saturday afternoon and then slept straight through to Sunday morning. Saturday night K said, "Mom, my arms, back, shoulders and legs are sore." At least she knew why they were sore. T stayed home because she has an examine on Monday.
Although we brought the camera not one picture was taken. Shucks. But at least we have this post as a memory reminder.
